Some editable templates come with extra formatting (such as extra spacing) to get the sample text to line up correctly. If you want to type all new wording, the formatting may no longer work for the text box. Here's an example of extra formatting:
To get rid of the formatting, simply delete out all the text and click away from the text box to reset it.
The cursor will move to the top of the text box. To center the text, press Enter or Return on your keyboard a few times to move the text down.
Or, you can change the alignment of the text to center. Open the Text Properties Box by pressing CTRL and E (or CMD and E on a MAC).
(View alternate way to open the properties box.)
Click the "More..." button at the far right of the Text Properties box. This will open a new box with advanced settings.
Click on the "Paragraph" tab at the top to choose alignment and spacing options.
Click the middle button on the right under "Alignment." This will center the text vertically in the text box.
